About Tourism

Rukungiri District Local Government Tourism Department plays an important role in promoting and developing tourism within the district by identifying, preserving, and marketing its natural, cultural, and historical attractions. The department works closely with local communities, private investors, and national tourism bodies to improve tourism infrastructure, increase visitor inflow, and support eco-tourism initiatives. Rukungiri is rich in attractions such as scenic hills, hot springs, waterfalls, and nearby access to Queen Elizabeth National Park, making it a growing destination for both domestic and international tourists. Rukungiri District is located approximately 403 km from Kampala, Uganda’s capital.

Kampala → Mbarara → Ntungamo → Rukungiri
