Communication in Rukungiri has never been easier. It takes slightly over 5 hours for one to travel from Kampala to Rukungiri by the all-weather tarmac road. The District is also crisscrossed by 390km of feeder roads and about 418km of community roads, which are well maintained and motorable throughout the year. They form the main transport channels for reaching markets and social service centers.

In the area of telecommunication, Rukungiri is adequately covered by all the mobile phone operators in Uganda; MTN, Zain and utl and Warid. There are many internet cafes in Rukungiri town council making communication with the outside world easy.

Television viewers in Rukungiri are served by pay TV mainly in public places. The South African based multi- choice broadcasts sports and news from the major international news channels, notably, BBC, CNN SABC and Al Jazeera. The national broadcaster (Uganda Broadcasting Corporation - UBC) is also received in a few urban areas..

There is clear reception of several radios stations, which broadcast using the frequency modulation (FM) notably; BBC, Radio Rukungiri, Radio West, Capital FM, Voice of Kigezi, Radio Kinkizi and Radio Uganda. Radio west and voice of Kigezi are affiliates of Voice of America (VOA) broadcasting hourly news bulletins. Under the rural electrification programme, four sub counties out of the ten in the district are already connected to national grid of Hydro Electric Power.
